Jet Fuel/Avgas Testing
In aviation, safety suffers no compromise. Crews, airframes, engines, oil and fuel must be in perfect condition before getting the ‘’Cleared to takeoff’’ authorisation from Air Traffic Control.
The Tribologik Jet Fuel Testing program includes fuel quality analysis according to ASTM D1655, which covers the Standard Specification for Aviation Turbine Fuel.
Our Avgas and Jet Fuel Testing services also include:
- Fuel Contamination Testing to detect water, microbiological, rust, dirt and other fuel contaminants.
- FSII (Fuel System Icing Inhibitor) Aircraft fuel tanks are at risk of water contamination as they go through humid air during climbing and landing operations, causing ice crystals which are likely to block filters and fuel lines, and interrupt the fuel flow to the engine. FSSI is a pure ethylene (or diethylene) glycol monomethylether additive that lowers the freezing point of water thus preventing ice build-up. This test assesses the purity of the additive to ensure maximum effectiveness in absorbing water molecules from ambient humid air.
- Freezing point: Jet A fuel freezes at -40 °C; Jet A-1 at -47 °C. The freezing point must always be lower than the minimum operational tank temperature. This test determines the temperature below which solid hydrocarbon crystals may form in aviation turbine fuels and Avgas.
